Timothy Hellwig explores the political crises in three European democracies (France, Italy and the UK) to argue that failures in constitutional design are at the root of their problems. These failures, moreover, are not dissimilar to those experienced in the United States, suggesting this is a current affliction of western democracies

Timothy has been a researcher at the International Foundation for Election Systems, on the faculty at the University of Houston, and a visiting researcher at the Australian National University, Gothenburg University, and the University of Essex.
His research interests are in comparative political economy, political behaviour, European politics, public policy, and research methods.
He is a member of the Executive Approval Project, a cross-national effort at compiling and analysing aggregate public opinion data.
