Sandra completed her PhD in International Relations at the University of Cambridge as a Marie Curie Fellow before joining the Johns Hopkins School of Advanced International Studies, the United States Institute of Peace and the University of St Andrews as a Postdoctoral Research Fellow.

Her research focuses on revolutions and their relationship with peace and conflict.
