Lene's research is situated in the field of political psychology.

She studies how psychological dispositions shape citizens’ attitudes, perceptions,  and reactions to political communication, with implications for key democratic challenges such as misperceptions and political knowledge, political polarization, and inequality in modern democracies.

Her research has been published in leading political science journals including the American Political Science Review, the American Journal of Political Science, the British Journal of Political Science, and the European Journal of Political Research.

She currently serves as Principal Investigator on the ERC-funded FACTRES project, and the EXDEM project funded by the Independent Research Fund Denmark.
