Femi was a 2004–2005 Fulbright Scholar and Visiting Professor at the United States Military Academy (USMA), under the Military Scholar Initiatives.

His research interest is in comparative political economy, international relations, development and transition studies, policy and strategic studies, and higher education. Governance.

Mimiko served as the fourth Vice Chancellor of Adekunle Ajasin University, Akungba-Akoko, from 2010 to 2015.

He was a participant on Senior Executive Course (SEC) 37, 2015, of Nigeria’s most prestigious think tank, the National Institute for Policy and Strategic Studies, Kuru.
