Calle's research focuses on EU foreign and security policy, particularly in relation to the new role of the European Commission.

He has published in journals including European Security, European View, The Swedish Political Science Journal, European Leadership Network, and with the Swedish Institute of International Affairs.

Calle holds a Master’s degree in political science with a focus on security studies from the Swedish Defence University and a Bachelor's degree in political science from Uppsala University.
