Tilko has worked on the project Courts under pressure: How social media change political discourse about the rule of law in modern democracies since 2021.

He holds a PhD in political science from the Graduate School of Economic and Social Sciences at the University of Mannheim.

Tilko's research focuses on questions regarding judicial politics, the organisation of courts, and political communication in the digital age.

His work has been published in academic journals including the European Journal of Political Research, Empirical Legal Studies, and Leviathan.
