Philipp's research focuses on educational inequalities, vocational education, and education policies, within Austria and from a comparative, international perspective.
His work has been published in the Annals of the American Academy of Political and Social Science; Education Inquiry, Migration Studies; Population, Space and Place; The Journal of International Migration and Integration, among other journals.
He has also co-edited two volumes with Springer, and four special issues in international journals.
Alongside Oliver Gruber and Anja Giudici, he recently co-edited the special issue Far-Right Parties and the Politics of Education in Europe, for the Journal of Contemporary European Studies (2024).
