His research methodology is survey analysis, and his regional focus is East Asia, especially the Greater China area.
His research uses transnational survey databases such as the World Values Survey and Asian Barometer to investigate how citizen values and attitudes such as attitude to gender equality, concern for environmental protection, and sentiment toward immigrants change over time and relate to socio-demographic indicators such as age, education, income, and urbanisation.
