Nigel is also Deputy Pro Vice Chancellor for Regional Engagement.

As well as pursuing academic research, he also works with a number of stakeholders, both locally and nationally on issues relating to inward investment and economic development.

Since his PhD, Nigel’s main area of research has been the economics of international business.

The focus of this is the nexus between firm strategy, such as location decisions, and local responses seeking to influence this in both home and host country.

He is a theme lead, and the lead for the midlands for the new ESRC productivity institute, and is currently completing a three-year ESRC-funded study into West Midlands productivity.
