Research fellow, Europa-Universität Flensburg

Monika gained her BA in political science from the University of Vilnius in 2007 and her MA in European Sociology from Freie Universität Berlin in 2010.

Since September 2020 she has been a Research Fellow at Europa-Universität Flensburg, working on the project Value Conflicts in a Differentiated Europe (ValCon).

From April 2021 she has also been involved with the Vilnius University project Postcommunist Transformation as a Dismantling of the Soviet Modernity Project.

Her research interests include emotion sociology, political communication, political attitudes and behaviour, European sociology, political scandals, values and norms, affective and political polarisation, political transformation, social network analysis, comparative survey research, discourse methodology, and qualitative interviews.

Monika has published peer-reviewed articles in the European Journal of Political Science, and Politics and Governance and Innovation: The European Journal of Social Science Research. In the latter, she has recently been a guest editor on the special issue When emotions run high: affective responses to crises in Europe.
