Luca's interests include the comparative study of political institutions and elites, and the role of public engagement in political science.
He is currently involved in the project REDIRECT – The Representative Disconnect: Diagnosis and Strategies for Rectification.
Luca received his PhD from the University of Florence and pursued further studies in Heidelberg and at Columbia University in New York.
He worked as a researcher in Bologna before joining the University of Siena as an Associate Professor in 2001 and becoming a Full Professor in 2007.
