Intersectionality is already shaping Europe’s fight against gender-based violence in research and higher education. Using evidence from UniSAFE, new EU policy frameworks, and the next generation of Gender Equality Plans, Marcela Linkova and Lut Mergaert show how
Gender mainstreaming in research, and the adoption and implementation of gender equality policies more broadly, are her main research interests.
Lut has led numerous policy support studies on gender equality, sets up and coordinates gender training programmes and has served as an expert for the European Commission, the European Institute for Gender Equality, European Parliament, Council of Europe, and UN Women, among others.
She has been involved in several Horizon 2020 projects focusing on gender equality: as scientific coordinator in Gender Equality Academy and currently in GenderSAFE, and as gender expert in the projects GEECCO, SUPERA, GEARING-Roles, Gender-SMART, AGRIGEP, CASPER and UniSAFE.
Lut has published articles and book chapters on gender mainstreaming, gender-based violence and gender equality policies in the EU, among others in NORA-Nordic Journal of Feminist and Gender Research, International Feminist Journal of Politics, Genus, European Journal of Risk Regulation, Journal of Gender-Based Violence, and European Journal of Politics and Gender.
