Karsten is a member of the University of Zurich’s Digital Society Initiative.
His main research focus is the impact of digitalisation on political behaviour and political processes.
He holds a PhD from ETH Zurich, was a postdoctoral researcher at the Graduate Institute Geneva and the University of Maryland, and an assistant professor at the University of Konstanz before joining the University of Zurich in 2020.
Karsten's work has appeared in a range of journals including the American Journal of Political Science, Political Science Research and Methods, Perspectives on Politics, the Journal of Peace Research, the European Journal of Political Research, Scientific Reports and the Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences of the United States of America.
