Haktan Ural
Associate Professor of Sociology, Ankara University

Haktan's research focuses on gender and sexualities, media and communications, and the sociology of emotions and affect.

Combining qualitative and quantitative methodologies with digital research methods, he has published in journals such as Feminist Media Studies, Media, Culture & Society, and the Journal of Youth Studies.

His current project examines anti-gender mobilisations in Turkey, analysing how conservative actors circulate gendered narratives across media platforms and align them with broader political and religious agendas.

Since 2026, he has served on the Executive Committee of the European Sociological Association (ESA).
