Gaygysyz specialises in corruption studies, institutional economics, labour economics, and development economics.
His research has been published in academic journals such as the European Journal of Political Economy, Kyklos, Scottish Journal of Political Economy, Crime, Law, and Social Change, Post-Communist Economies, Journal of Small Business and Enterprise Development, and Knowledge Management Research & Practice.
He earned his BA from Ankara University, an MA from Tallinn University of Technology, and a PhD from the University of Tartu.
Prior to his current role, he served as a Researcher and Programme Manager for the BBA program at the University of Tartu.
He is an active member of the Estonian Economic Association and the Baltic Economic Association.
