His doctoral research focused on third-party ceasefire monitoring, and his research interests include conflict resolution, international mediation, and African politics.

He is the recipient of the 2019 Oslo Forum PeaceWriter Prize for ‘bold and innovative responses to today’s peacemaking challenges’, and editor of the autobiography of Gordon Muortat Mayen, The Struggle for South Sudan.
